Share Facebook Twitter Email WhatsApp A security force affiliated with the Ministry of Interior arrested Ahmed Abou El-Fotouh, son of Dr. Abdel Moneim Abou El-Fotouh, on Wednesday, April 16, while he was at the Qattameya Traffic Department to renew his driver’s license. The arrest was carried out in implementation of a 10-year prison sentence issued against him in absentia. The Criminal Court had issued its verdict on May 29, 2022, sentencing Ahmed Abou El-Fotouh in absentia to 10 years in prison in case no. 440 of 2018 (Supreme State Security), the same case in which his father, Abdel Moneim Abou El-Fotouh, is also a defendant. Ahmed was taken on Tuesday, October 17, to the New Cairo Prosecution Office, where he signed a request to reopen legal proceedings in the case. He was then placed in a detention location unknown to his family to date, pending the scheduling of a new trial session before the Terrorism Criminal Court.
