The Committee for Justice (CFJ) has documented the continuation of the strike by workers at Al‑Ameer Ceramics Company in the city of 10th of Ramadan, Sharqia Governorate, for the fourth consecutive day, in protest against the delay in the payment of June 2026 salaries, as well as demands for the regular payment of wages and the restoration of suspended health insurance services. According to statements by workers cited in local media reports, the company has repeatedly delayed salary payments in recent months until after the 20th day of the following month, causing increasing financial hardship for employees and leading to mounting debts for many of them. The sources reported that hundreds of workers gathered inside the factory premises after the company’s transportation services were disrupted due to the participation of bus drivers in the strike. Workers affirmed their determination to continue the protest until their outstanding wages are paid, assurances are provided against future salary delays, and health insurance services are reinstated. The workers also pointed to low wage levels, noting that average monthly salaries do not exceed approximately 6,000 Egyptian pounds. They further reported the continued suspension of health insurance services due to the company’s outstanding debts, in addition to complaints regarding the deteriorating condition of employee transport vehicles and the failure to renew their operating licenses, which they say poses risks to workers’ safety during transportation. The Committee for Justice emphasized that the rights to a fair and timely wage, social security and healthcare, and the freedom of workers to pursue their rights through peaceful means are fundamental rights protected under international human rights standards and international labor standards. CFJ calls for addressing the workers’ legitimate demands, ensuring the payment of their financial entitlements, restoring essential services, and guaranteeing that no worker is subjected to retaliation for exercising the right to peaceful protest.
